From the Gospel of Matthew:
6: 25 ¶ Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 and yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 ¶ Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
I love these verses. It is so important for us to keep the commandments of God so that we can live with faith that He will bless us according to our needs. In our stake (just a small area in our town), during the month of February, over 40 families went unemployed (that they knew of). It is not uncommon to drive in any neighborhood and see homes being forclosed. With the struggles my company is having and based on the economy in general, I was impressed stronger than ever this weekend to get our food storage ready, our costs lowered, and save as much as we can, while we can. I know that as we keep the commandments of God, we will be blessed, and I have faith that everything will be okay in the end. Because of this faith, I know we can continue to live happily, even looking oncoming struggles in the eye.
Somebody has got to do something about the cost of health care! I injured a toe in basketball last month, bad enough that I had to go to the after hours insta-care. They had signs all over the place touting their "$60 flat rate for all services." I asked the receptionist about it. "Its only for those without insurance."
Poor little Olivia got really scared on Halloween because of some decorations and costumes. Ever since, she has talked about "Monsters" and sometimes gets really scared. While I don\'t like that she gets scared alot, (I think she has a hard time with shadows at night) I actually love having her run to me for protection!
